Camp St. Herman is an opportunity for children (grades 4-12) from across the diocese to come together in a safe place to learn about the faith of our fathers, participate in the sacraments and make lasting friendships. The program of Camp St. Herman is modeled after the program of the Antiochian Village (Pennsylvania) of the Antiochian Archdiocese, and continues the tradition of the annual Diocese Youth Rally of the OCA Diocese of New England. Camp is held at the St. Methodios Faith & Heritage Center in Contoocook, NH.
Camp St. Herman Update regarding Covid-19 Corona Virus
We have been so excited planning for the inaugural year of Camp St. Herman the past few months. As each piece of the puzzle came together, I was more and more excited for the summer. However, our first and foremost concern is the health and well-being of our campers, staff and their families. With this in mind, after much prayer and deliberation, His Eminence Metropolitan Joseph along with the hierarchs of the Antiochian Archdiocese made a number of heart-wrenching decisions that are in the best interest of all of us. One of those decisions is the cancellation of all Archdiocese camping programs this summer (2020), including Camp St. Herman. Click here for the full message from Metropolitan Joseph.
I thank you all for being the first to sign up for Camp St. Herman. Since choosing St. Herman of Alaska as the patron of our camp, there have been many providential moments connected to this great saint. Even in this terrible tragedy of the corona virus, St. Herman brings us healing as he is no stranger to a fatal disease. While he was ministering to the local Aleut population on Kodiak Island, a very contagious and fatal disease struck the island. St. Herman faithfully "visited the sick, never tiring. He admonished them in their fear, prayed, brought them to penance, or prepared them for death. He never spared himself." (from St. Herman's life) O Holy St. Herman of Alaska, intercede for us as we pray for a quick and speedy end to this pandemic!
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
